The former United States First Lady, Michelle Obama was spotted in Cape Town, South Africa, wearing a beautiful MaXhosa dress.
Former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama was spotted in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa on Thursday, 16 November. She was also spotted rubbing shoulders with global philanthropist Melinda French Gates, leading human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, and activist and former South African First Lady Graça Machel as they joined forces to discuss eradicating child marriage and empowering girls across the world, IOL reported.

The global powerhouses linked up in Cape Town to speak on the importance of the girl child, education for girls, and the need for financial backing in order to empower these young girls, the publication reported.
As the conversation went on about who was to be held accountable and how to move forward to build a better society, what seemed to steal the spotlight was Michelle Obama’s designer dress. The former United States First Lady was dressed in a stunning South African designer dress by Laduma Ngxokolo, the owner of MaXhosa.

Nonetheless, Michelle Obama, who is also the founder of the Obama Foundation’s Girls Opportunity Alliance is said to have used her voice in the aim to break the cycle of child marriage by highlighting the importance of empowering young girls through education, Glamour reported.
“For the past five years, the Girls Opportunity Alliance has been working hard to help girls overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential…When girls marry too early, they often miss out on the education they deserve. That’s why I’m thrilled to be able to team up with Melinda French Gates and Amal Clooney to invest in grassroots leaders and organisations who are working to end child marriage and lift girls up. Every girl deserves a chance at a life worthy of her dreams, and I am proud to join such a remarkable group of people to make that a reality,” Obama was quoted as saying.
