Q&A WITH NDIVHO MAKHWANYA

1. Was it hard to move to Metro FM or has it always been your dream, considering your move from an afternoon drive at the previous radio station to a graveyard?

“Haha, transitions are always a bit difficult for me, but the most difficult one is the time factor. Having to wake up at the wee hours of the day but get pumped up because I know there’s no such thing as graveyard at the “Mighty Metro”.

2. You were crowned Miss Makhado in December 2015. Are you still interested in doing pageants or have you put this ‘dream’ to bed?

“Oh, what a time that was. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I’ve put the dream to rest, but so much has changed since that time, to where I am right now. Would you believe me If I told you the dream to be on radio wasn’t there when I was crowned.? But look at where God has placed me now. I’m allowing myself to be led by the call over my life. It’s important for me to have a why in all I do.”

3. What motivated your move from being a beauty queen to a broadcaster?

“Funny story, it just happened. I don’t thing I ever saw myself as a broadcaster during my pageant years. Miss SA, absolutely. I always say that radio found me and loved. The journey has felt like God’s love notes to me, to heal my heart. He’s been so helpful to hold my hand. I hope one day I will get to unpack how I became a broadcaster.”

4. What do you get up to Monday to Friday, when you are not on air?

“Lol. I’ve always worked Monday to Saturday for the past four years. I’ve barely taken breaks in-between; I need to revisit this and find new things to do.”

5. Have you adjusted to life in Johannesburg yet?

“Joburg is quite big. I’m in-between provinces for now and taking it one day at a time. I have an amazing circle of family and friends that are helping through the transition.”
