Usher opens up about Alicia Keys Super Bowl hug

Usher has opened up after his 2024 Super Bowl halftime show had fans talking about his performance with Alicia Keys

American musician Usher is opening up about the backlash he faced concerning the intimate hug he shared with Alicia Keys during his 2024 Super Bowl halftime show.

USHER OPENS UP ABOUT SUPER BOWL PERFORMANCE WITH ALICIA KEYS

In conversation with the Breakfast Club radio show on Monday, 19 February, Usher told the radio show’s host Charlamagne Tha God that he and Alicia’s Keys husband, Swizz Beatz, had giggled over the reactions of their hug.

“Absolutely, we laughed about it”, the Confessions singer shared.

It’s crazy how people think,” he continued. “It’s all about how you present things, man, it’s all about love.”

Usher’s response after many were outraged by the fact that Usher intimate touched the Girl on Fire singer during their Super Bowl Performance. Many felt like Usher was being disrespectful towards Alicia’s husband, music producer and rapper Swizz Beatz.

 The duo performed their 2004 hit song titled, My Boo.

‘WE CELEBRATE IT BECAUSE OF THE LEGACY OF IT’

Usher furthermore noted that their performance was all about having fun and essentially celebrating the legacy of their 2004 hit.

” [It was] literally about having fun because of a song me and Alicia made many years ago and we celebrate it because of the legacy of it”, the singer shared.

Usher also added that there was “no disrespect” intended toward anyone including Alicia’s husband, Swizz Beatz.

Swizz, whose real name is Kasseem Dean, also hit back at the criticism a day after the Super Bowl.

“Y’all talking about the wrong damn thing !!!”, Swizz opened the caption of his post.

He continued: “Y’all don’t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium?? Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing Giants!” he wrote alongside an Instagram carousel of photos of the performance.

” Congrats @usher and my love @aliciakeys that song is a classic 🤍 We don’t do negative vibes on this side we make history”, Swizz concluded his post.
