Beloved multi-awarding South African musician Bulelwa Mtukukana affectionately known by her stage Zahara, has had her ride-or-die fans appeal for a Provincial Funeral from the government.

ZIZI KODWA VISITS ZAHARA’S FAMILY AFTER SAD ANNOUCEMENT

The singer-songwriter passed away at the age of 36 on 11 December after she had been hospitalised for a while. Her untimely demise was confirmed by Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Zizi Kodwa, who later paid Zahara’s family a visit today.

“This afternoon, we spent the afternoon with @ZaharaSA’s loved ones. Our heartfelt prayers go to the Mkutukana family, Zahara’s friends and the entire music fraternity. The passing of Zahara is a profound loss to the country,” said Kodwa.

FANS CALL ON GOVERNMENT TO BURY ZAHARA WITH DIGNITY

The songstress fans have been left devastated, prompting unlimited tributes to the Loliwe hitmaker. Tributes continued to pour in across all fraternities, including from the Presidency this afternoon, with some of her fans appealing for a Provincial Funeral for this impactful singer from the Eastern Cape.

Fan, Sihle Mphemba said: “Over the years we have seen amaciko ase (artists from) Eastern Cape not given dignified funerals by the Government, particularly Department of Arts and Culture under Minister Nathi Mthethwa. So I hope Mr Zizi Kodwa will do justice”.

Mphemba went on to compare the funerals of public figures from the Eastern Cape vs KwaZulu-Natal

“We’ve all seen the funeral of Sfiso Ncwane compared to Lundi Tyamara, Senzo Meyiwa compared to Anele Ngconca. If this was tribalism, it must come to an end because we are all South Africans and we pay tax,” he advocated.
