Nigerian Afrobeats artist Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems will be performing in South Africa at the DSTV delicious festival on the 23 September 2023.

A DELICIOUS LINE-UP

The lifestyle festival has announced that Tems will be co-headlining the festival with American musician Maxwell, American pianist Robert Glasper and South Africa’s very own Grammy winning musician Zakes Bantwini.

Other performers on the line-up include Karyendasoul, Murdah Bongz, Greg (The Musical Maestro), Oskido, Joyous Celebration, Christos, Oscar Mbo, DJ Lamiez, Ringo Madlingozi, DJ Kent, and Arrested Development.

Tems is no stranger to South Africa. The Nigerian songstress completed her tertiary education in Johannesburg. The artist has also performed at the Friends of Amstel festival concert in December 2022.

Tems has had quite the busy year, from getting nominated for the 2023 Oscars for co-writing Lift Me Up, to getting co-signed by the likes of Beyonce and Rihanna, it is clear that she is here to stay!

“It’s an indication to me that I’m on the right path and that I am doing something that hasn’t been done before. If the biggest women in the world love my work to such an extent that they are working with me, then that must say something”, she shared in an Interview with Harper’s Bazaar Magazine.

  • The 28-year-old songstress is a Gemini.
  • In addition to being a songwriter and singer, Tems is also a producer.
  • Tems graduated with an undergraduate degree in Economics from Monash University in Johannesburg.
  • The afrobeats artist has received co-signs from Adele, Beyonce, Rihanna, DJ Khaled and Drake. Former President Barack Obama has also become a fan of Tems.
  • Tems has won her first Grammy award for her contribution to rapper Future’s hit single, Wait For U.
