Shoppers at a Spar supermarket in the Eastern Cape of South Africa were surprised when thieves took off with not just a load of cash… but with the entire ATM machine loaded onto the back of their bakkie!
A video of CCTV footage of the incredible scene at Lady Frere was uploaded by News24 to YouTube.
The gang of five armed men can be seen ushering the shoppers out of the way so that they can reverse the bakkie into the shop.
They then unplug and load the ATM onto the back of the small van, before driving away!

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning. “The store was really busy since people were withdrawing pension money,” the manager told News24.
Apparently the ATM had been filled up with cash that morning. The machine is used to pay out SASSA (SA Social Security Agency) grants.
Police are investigating, but no arrests have yet been made.
