Breakfast Indaba: Saffas launch networking event in London

Thursday, 30 November 2023 saw the launch of the South African Breakfast Indaba networking event in central London.

Thursday, 30 November saw the launch of the networking Breakfast Indaba event in central London. 

The indaba, hosted by Terence WittenJaco Botha and James Durrant, saw 30 South African businessmen and women, from a cross section of businesses, gather at The Cut Bar & Restaurant in the Young Vic Theatre.

Not limited to South Africans, a few locals were hosted – and even some Aussies!

Each guest was given the opportunity to present their business and share how they were looking to grow and the support they needed while enjoying breakfast.

The open networking after the formalities went on until 11:00 with business cards being exchanged, relationships established and exciting new opportunities discussed. 

Tom Grunsell from Westminster Wealth commented, ‘What a great networking format, makes finding the right people in the room you want to connect with much easier.’

AVI LASAROW SHARES HIS JOURNEY FROM START-UP TO IPO

Johannesburg-born guest speaker Avi Lasarow, a serial entrepreneur, talked through his journey from founding, building and listing a wide number of ventures in the healthcare sector.

His most recent exit as CEO of the EMEA region, took Prenetics to a NASDAQ-listing in 2022.

The insights, advice and experiences from his business journey were inspiring.

Avi also explained how being an Honorary Consul for South Africa to the United Kingdom was a platform for him to help those in the room wanting to do bilateral trade and gain access to the High Commission.

Avi highlighted ‘seeing South Africans collaborating in this way is great, and so important. As expats we must work together and support growth in South Africa’.

The Breakfast Indaba will host the first of its local monthly breakfasts in Putney and Wokingham in January 2024.

They will feature smaller group breakfasts focused on getting to know each other, sharing insights and proactively working out how they can support each other’s businesses.

The next Breakfast Indaba meeting will be held on Thursday, 29 February 2024 at The Cut Bar & Restaurant in the Young Vic Theatre.
