South African runner Caster Semenya – who was forced to undergo sex verification testing in 2009 – is set to release a tell-all book….

After years of shunning the spotlight, South African runner Caster Semenya is set to tell all of her experience as an intersex woman and how it affected her professional career.

The Olympic gold medallist – whose body produces a naturally higher amount of testosterone – has undergone sex verification testing and taking hormonal medication.

CASTER SEMENYA ANNOUNCES MEMOIR

In an Instagram post, Caster Semenya shared a look at the cover her book titled The Race To Be Myself. The memoir is set for release on 31 October 2023.

She shared: “It is my hope that by finally telling my truth, I will inspire others to be bold, unafraid, and most importantly, to love and accept themselves as they are.

What can we expect to read about in Caster Semenya’s memoir? Here are a few notable moments…

  • Undergoing a sex test after the World Championships to determine if she was a female
  • Leaked documents revealing that she was born intersex and assigned female gender at birth
  • Being forced to take hormonal medication to suppress her natural testosterone
  • Her marriage to fellow runner Violet Raseboya and life with their two children.
