Tau has been in scintillating form for Al Ahly in all competitions this season and that form has not gone unnoticed by clubs abroad, it seems.

Tau’s four goals in four games in the CAF Champions League have seen him playing an integral role for Al Ahly in the competition thus far. The tricky forward signed for the Red Eagles in the 2021/22 season, in a high profile but opinion diving move from English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.

When he joined, he signed a three-year deal, which then means that the Bafana Bafana will have just one more season remaining on his contract at Al Ahly after this season. That could well put Tau in a very strong position should he want to push for a move to greener pastures. It also forces the Egyptian Red Devils to consider cashing in on the player or risk losing him for free when his deal expires, should they fail to agree fresh terms.

On the topic interest, Tau is not believed to be a player who would be short of options should it come to a point where he looks to move on. According to FARPostthe latest European side to express an interest in him hails from the Dutch Eredivisie

UTRECHT INTERESTED IN TAU

“FC Utrecht has made contact with his management just to gauge if there’s interest from the player. The only challenge is that Al Ahly is extremely happy with him and unwilling to sell him. He’s yet to sign a new deal with Ahly and will probably move after AFCON. By then, he’ll be left with six months on his contract.” the source said to the same publication.

His former club in Belgium, Anderlecht, are also following the situation. Danish giants Brøndby IF and Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal are also linked with his signature alongside Burnley and former side Mamelodi Sundowns who reportedly had an offer rejected for his services in January.
