NEW AND IMPROVED BOMB SQUAD

Malcolm Marx, Thomas du Toit, Vincent Koch, RG Snyman, Pieter-Steph du Toit and Duane Vermeulen have been named on the bench alongside Grant Williams and Manie Libbok.

Therefore, Nienaber is opting for a 6-2 split, with six forwards and two backline players.

This time around, du Toit (Thomas) and du Toit Vermeulen have been added to the original bomb squad (Marx, Koch and RG Snyman). Adding heavy artillery’s, bulk and experience to what was already a formidable bomb squad.

Furthermore, Williams and Libbok are two of the most exciting attacking players in SA right now. Both men made the URC team of the tournament. Furthermore, Libbok was excellent against Australia and Williams is one of the quickest, most talented and elusive scrumhalves in recent memory.

Therefore, the Boks have experience, power and skill in abundance in what is essentially the new Bomb squad.

This could also be the new Bomb squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

NEW BOMB SQUAD FOR RUGBY WORLD CUP 2023?

There shouldn’t be too many changes from this bomb squad ad the one that will be used when the Springboks defend their Rugby World Cup title in France.

Mbonambi is likely to rotate with Malcolm Marx while Ox Nche is likely to replace du Toit.

Furthermore, du Toit will probably come with Mostert resuming his place on the bench. Kwagga is likely to drop when Siya Kolisi returns from injury. Moreover, Marco van Staden and Deon Fourie will do their best to displace Vermeulen on the Springboks bench.

While Williams will battle Cobus Reinach, Herschel Jantjies and Jaden Hendrikse for a place on the bench. Libbok and Willemse will battle it for a place on the Boks bench when Handre Pollard returns with both men a big part of the Boks current plans. Finally, it will be hard to keep Kurt-lee Arendse out of the 23 given his scintillating form.
