HOMOPHOBIC DRIVER KICKED MY FRIEND AND I OUT BECAUSE WE DIDNT GREET’

In the post, Wassim noted that the Uber driver kicked them out of his car two minutes after the car ride started because they “didn’t greet” him.

“This homophobic driver kicked my friend and I out of his car after 2 min of the trip because we didn’t ‘greet him’”, Wassim alleged.

Wassim then went on to urge the Uber organisation to take action of their training processes, specifically for vulnerable queer individuals.

“Uber please do something about your training process because queer people are not safe and this is not acceptable”, the Twitter user urged.

Wassim then continued by stating that there were witnesses who allegedly saw everything unfold. In addition to this, Wassim alleges that the driver said that he couldn’t drive the two friends because they also asked him to “speed up” because they were late.

“We had money and laptops on us and were already running late for a meeting. He said he can’t drive us because we asked him to speed up a little as we were late. He dropped us at the Mazda in Ferndale and just drove off”.

‘THIS WASN’T HOMOPHOBIC, YOU JUST DON’T HAVE MANNERS’

Hours after Wassim’s post was made, the tweet was flooded with quoted replies and comments about the ordeal. Instead of rallying for Wassim, many tweeps are calling Wassim out for their entitlement, as well as for loosely accusing someone of homophobia.

The Twitter user has also been accused of poorly using the victim card to gain sympathy, without being aware of their own wrongdoing. Some have even gone to the extent to call out Wassim for being disrespectful and having no manners.

“This wasn’t homophobic you just don’t have basic manners and you wanted him to commit crimes (speeding) because you didn’t have the foresight to book an Uber on time, one tweep said.

Many see Wassim’s tweet as irresponsible, because queer people today are still seen as constant targets of threats, not to mention villainized for merely just existing.
