The South African rand has taken a battering in recent weeks and months as dreams of holidays abroad remain just that – a dream.
Load shedding, close links with Russia and a strong dollar – among several other factors – have hurt the rand as South Africans batten down the hatches and prepare to weather the storm.
Due to the ever fluctuating nature of exchange rates, the table below will be updated three times a day – at 09:00, 13:00 and 17:00 (SA times).
It depicts the rand exchange rate against five other major currencies.
They are the dollar (US dollar), pound, euro, Australian dollar (A$) and New Zealand dollar (NZ$).
