South African-born comedian Trevor Noah, received his final Emmy nomination for his work on The Daily Show on Wednesday, 12 July.

In a surprising turn of events, South African comedian Trevor Noah has secured what will be his last shot at Emmy glory for his outstanding work on The Daily Show. Despite bidding farewell to the late-night talk show on 29 September 2022, Noah has received an Emmy nomination in the highly competitive Outstanding Talk Series category.

This nomination sets the stage for a showdown among talk show heavyweights, including Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night With Seth MeyersThe Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and The Problem With Jon Stewart.

TREVOR NOAH SUCCESS

Noah’s departure from The Daily Show marked the end of an era, but it seems his legacy will live on through his Emmy recognition. Not only has The Daily Show received a nomination for Outstanding Talk Series, but it has also earned nods in other significant categories, including Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series and Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming.

The comedian took to Twitter to react to the news of the Emmy Nominations. Additionally, Noah’s Netflix special, Trevor Noah: I Wish You Would, has garnered its nomination in the fiercely competitive Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) category.

TREVOR AND THE DAILY SHOW

The comedian’s version of The Daily Show premiered on 28 September 2015, with Kevin Hart as his first guest. By 2018, Noah’s Comedy Central show had become a mainstay of the best talk show series Emmy Race. After a bombshell decision to sign off as host of The Daily Show, Noah is now looking to go out on another emotional high at the upcoming Emmys.
