What is Home Grown Futures?
The initiative targets South African-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that operate in the UK, but can employ workers remotely back home.

Home Grown Futures is a campaign launched to create over 500 quality jobs for South Africans in South Africa during 2026.
The initiative targets South African-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that operate in the UK, but can employ workers remotely back home.
Who is it for?
The campaign specifically calls on SA business owners running UK-based companies who already employ South Africans in South Africa, or who have the capability to do so.
These are typically businesses that operate from the UK but can offer remote work opportunities to talent
based in SA.
What does the name mean?
The campaign name reflects its core values.
“Home Grown” represents a commitment to investing in South African talent on home soil, keeping
families together and building expertise locally.
“Futures” signals that this isn’t about short-term gig work but sustainable career development and long-term professional growth.
How does it work?
South African-owned UK businesses can join the campaign by employing workers in various remote roles, from software developers and digital marketers to customer service specialists and finance professionals.
Every role counts, whether a business employs two people or 20.
Transparency and accountability
Each person employed through Home Grown Futures is tracked and published on SAPeople.com with their first name, job title, start date, and location in South Africa.
This public record demonstrates tangible impact, showing real jobs for real people rather than just
publicity.
Who’s already involved?
The campaign already has founding members including Bluegrass Digital (led by Nick Durrant), ClickTrain (led by Andrew Bloch), and The Sales Centre (led by Terence Witten).
These businesses are proving that commercial success and social responsibility can work hand in hand.
SA business owners interested in joining the campaign can express their interest by emailing info@sapeople.com.
