Yoh Vote matches voters with ideal political party

A new app has taken the socials by storm. Yoh Vote can supposedly ‘match-make’ voters with a political party in the elections.

Website Yoh Vote is being praised for its ability to help voters choose their preferred political party ahead of the elections in May.

Others claim its “matchmaking” is entirely off…

YOH VOTE MATCHES YOU WITH PREFERRED PARTY

On social media, South Africans have spoken out about the Yoh Vote website, which selects the political party that matches your vision for the country.

The site asks multiple answer questions on your stance on issues like land reform, load shedding, illegal immigration, and the economy.

One tweep posted: “It’s like Tinder; it matches you with a political party that aligns with your needs and interests.”

The site claims: “Pre-date jitters can bring more than just butterflies. To minimise cold feet and flaking out, we have curated a set of resources to help you get to know your perfect match a bit more.”

While many claimed that the results were “off,” singer Busiswa Gqulu was amused at her selection for the elections.

She tweeted: “I love it!! Whoever came up with this is a genius with an elite sense of humour too.

“It matched me with the ANC. But hey, I guess it’s coz I love a free lunch as much as the next girl”.

WHEN ARE THE ELECTIONS?

The 2024 general elections will be held on Friday, 29 May 2024. The day has officially been declared a public holiday, announced President Cyril Ramaphosa.

He said: “I call on all South Africans to exercise their democratic right to vote and for those who will be campaigning to do so peacefully within the full observance of the law.”
