A milestone for one of South Africa’s oldest wine estates
Cheers to the Cape Winelands, which has hosted a prestigious farm since 1682

The Cape Winelands attracts both travellers and locals eager to experience this iconic region firsthand.
In the Western Cape, areas like Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, and Wellington host some of South Africa’s finest vineyards.
One standout is Blaauwklippen in Stellenbosch, which recently won the Global Best Heritage award and remains a historical gem even after three centuries.
Cheers to three centuries and more!
While it may rank as one of the oldest wine estates (343 years old) and the oldest registered company in South Africa, there’s nothing stuffy about Blaauwklippen; in fact, it has aged like fine wine since 1682. Its name means “Blue Stones”, and was reportedly inspired by the blue colours found in the rocks on the farm.
Blaauwklippen recently won the Best Heritage Wine Estate award at the Global Brand Awards in Dubai this June. Competing against more than 18,000 companies across roughly 30 categories, the estate emerged at the top.
The estate’s website describes it as “A Living Legacy,” highlighting its enduring commitment to quality wine production. This recognition honors not only the heritage of the Cape Winelands but also South Africa as a whole.
The farm offers a variety of facilities and experiences, including a restaurant, a farm gym, wine trails, and specialties such as brandy and craft gins.
