Attendees at Africa’s Travel Indaba, currently underway at Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli ICC complex, have expressed optimism that the annual travel show will boost their businesses.

The travel extravaganza, which started on Tuesday and ends on Thursday, has attracted thousands of international and local exhibitors.

One such exhibitor, who spoke highly of the Indaba, was Vincent Dlamini of Nongoma Siyavaya Tours who said he had already received promising inquiries from other international operators and buyers alike.

“The response has been very positive thus far. I have already had very fruitful discussions with two operators, from Switzerland and Australia respectively, who are interested in partnering with us to bring tourists from these countries to KwaZulu-Natal,” Dlamini said.

These sentiments were also echoed by Nonhlanhla Biyela from Umhlosinga Development Agency which markets the Elephant Coast in the far north of the province.

“International visitors, in particular, are very keen to find about what our region, which is the Route 22, has to offer. Our foremost attractions include the Big 5 and the Isimangaliso Wetlands World Heritage Site,” said Biyela.

More than 31 African countries are represented at the Indaba which is the largest travel show on the continent.

It showcases the widest variety of Southern Africa’s best tourism products and attracts international buyers and media from across the world. Africa’s Travel Indaba is owned by South African Tourism and organised by Synergy Business Events (Pty) Ltd.

Africa’s Travel Indaba has won awards for Africa’s best travel and tourism show. The award was presented by the Association of World Travel Awards. – SAnews.gov.za
