Another earthquake hit several parts of Gauteng last night.

JUST IN: ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE HIT GAUTENG

According to reports on social media, residents in Soweto and Roodepoort felt the tremor.

EMSC, an Independent Scientific Organization and provider of real-time quake info, said an earthquake measuring 3.0 magnitude has rattled the region near Johannesburg.

Gauteng has been rocked with quakes and tremors since the start of the year.

RESIDENTS IN SOWETO AND ROODEPOORT FELT THE QUAKE

An earthquake measuring 3.2 magnitude in August has rattled the region near Johannesburg.

Another 2.9 magnitude earthquake rocked Gauteng in the early hours on Thursday, 29 June.

GAUTENG HAS BEEN ROCKED BY SEVERAL QUAKES AND TREMORS THIS YEAR

North West felt the tremors of a magnitude 3.3 seismic event after a 5.0 earthquake rocked Gauteng on Sunday, 11 June.

TIPS ON WHAT TO DO WHEN AN QUAKE HITS

The Council for GeoSciences gives these few tips.

If you’re indoor:

  • Keep away from doors and windows
  • Protect your head with a pillow
  • Check if the doors are open. Get out once the shaking stops

If your outdoors:

  • Drop on clear ground until it stops
  • Avoid trees, buildings and power lines
  • If you’re in the car, stop, park and stay inside.
