In a historic achievement for South Africa’s tourism, Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) earned the top spot as the best airport in the world.

Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) achieved a landmark milestone for South Africa’s tourism and aviation sectors by ranking as the best airport in the world in the newly released AirHelp Score 2025.
The prestigious ranking, which assesses airports based on on-time performance, customer experience, and service quality, awarded CTIA an overall score of 8.57, surpassing many of the world’s most famous airports.
Cape Town earned a punctuality score of 8.6 and an impressive 8.7 for passenger experience, showcasing the airport’s dedication to operational excellence and welcoming hospitality.
“This one hits different,” commented one traveller, echoing the sentiments of many who described their CTIA arrival as friendly, smooth, and stress-free.
Beating global giants
CTIA outperformed major international hubs, including:
- Hamad International Airport (Qatar)
- Riyadh King Khaled International Airport (Saudi Arabia)

- Muscat International Airport (Oman)
- Salt Lake City International Airport (USA)
While many global airports have struggled to maintain efficiency and consistent service, Cape Town International has stood out by operating on time, maintaining clean facilities, and creating a welcoming atmosphere, giving travellers an ideal start or finish to their journeys.
Gateway to the Mother City
Set against the backdrop of Table Mountain and near vineyards and penguin-populated beaches, CTIA is more than just an airport, it serves as the gateway to one of the world’s most iconic destinations. This award provides a significant boost to South Africa’s tourism industry, strengthening its global reputation and establishing Cape Town as a premier travel hub in 2025.
