Dry conditions grip Gauteng
Gauteng residents will experience warm and sunny conditions today, but warnings about runaway fires have raised concerns across the province.

Gauteng residents can look forward to warm, sunny weather today. Forecaster Mduduzi Mthembu said Johannesburg will reach a high of 28°C, while Pretoria will peak at 27°C.
“Johannesburg will once again enjoy pleasant conditions under sunny skies,” Mthembu noted.
The province continues to experience stable spring weather, with no rainfall expected in the forecast.
Fire hazard weather warning
Although conditions remain calm, the South African Weather Service has warned of runaway fires in parts of the Free State, North West, and Northern Cape. Gauteng also remains on alert as dry air and winds spread into its central and western regions.
Mthembu stressed caution, saying, “There is a warning of runaway fires over the central parts of the country due to very hard, strong windy conditions.”
He urged residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor fires and remain vigilant.
Wider Regional Impact
The hot, dry weather stretches beyond Gauteng into Limpopo, where Musina and Palabora are expected to reach highs of 30°C.
Bloemfontein will remain mild at 24°C, while Cape Town faces cloudy skies with a maximum of 19°C.
