Ekurhuleni Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana, dodges another vote of no confidence sitting after it was postponed.

Ngodwana is deemed to be incompetent.

EKURHULENI MAYOR SURVIVES ONCE AGAIN

Ngodwana’s fight for survival continues as another attempt to remove him through a motion of no confidence was postponed.

The initial motion of no confidence against Ngodwana was disrupted by chaos as members of the EFF and ANC engaged in physical altercations during the council session.

Some councillors are urging for Ngodwana’s removal as he is seen as incompetent, reported IOL.

Ngodwana, from the AIC, serves in a coalition supported by the ANC, EFF, and the Patriotic Alliance.

The council faced a delay whether to prioritise he auditor-general’s report or the motion of confidence. Ninety-nine councillors voted for the report, while 98 demanded the motion be the priority.

According to IOL ,speaker Nthabiseng Tshivenga from the EFF ended the session abruptly when no agreement was reached. She needed legal advice on adjustments to the motion drafted by ActionSA.

This is Ngodwana’s second survival after the first session collapsed.

ACTIONSA MOTION OF NO CONFIDENCE AGAINST NGODWANA

ActionSA had put forward a motion of no confidnce against Ngodwana after he failed people of Ekurhuleni with service delivery.

According to IOL They criticized the mayor for ignoring a council resolution on insourcing and failing to implement lifestyle audits.

Despite the postponement, ActionSA remains confident in Ngodwana’s removal. The Democratic Alliance called for council dissolution, while the ANC pushed for majority party rule.

On 29 February IOL reported  shocking and chaotic scenes broke out at the Ekurhuleni council meeting after ANC and EFF councillors got into a fistfight, with fists, water bottles and papers being thrown from both sides.

The ANC expressed disappointment in the abrupt meeting end. The EFF supports Ngodwana, wanting him to stay. Both the ANC and EFF hold MMC seats in the council.
