FIFA World Cup: 500 million ticket requests received amid Trump’s tantrums
Trump has temporarily denied US entry to 75 countries, 15 of which are fans of FIFA World Cup participants, but ticket requests have surged.
Gianni Infantino has revealed they have received 500 million ticket requests for the 2026 FIFA World Cup over the past 33 days.
The window for ticket requests was officially opened on 11 December 2025, and the demand has surged since then.
This announcement by the FIFA President comes at a time when Donald Trump ordered a pause in visa applications of 15 participating nations.
Now, following the closure of the Random Selection Draw, the FIFA Ticketing department will resume verification processes.
This is to ensure that ticket requests meet the application requirements to ensure fairness and offer equal opportunity for all the applicants.
FIFA warned fans on their website that a match ticket does not guarantee admission to a host country, given Trump’s latest throwing of tantrums.

INFANTINO ON 500 MILLION TICKET REQUESTS FOR 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP
“Half a billion ticket requests in just over a month is more than demand – it’s a global statement,” said Infantino.
“On behalf of FIFA, I would like to thank and congratulate football fans everywhere for this extraordinary response.
“Knowing how much this tournament means to people around the world, our only regret is that we cannot welcome every fan inside the stadiums.
“That is why we are committed to creating multiple ways for fans to be part of the FIFA World Cup 2026 – through a wide range of fan experiences beyond the stadiums, both in person and online – so that as many people as possible can share in what will be the biggest sporting event ever staged,” he added.
