Former Titans wicketkeeper retires from cricket at 33

Former Multiply Momentum Titans and Imperial Lions wicketkeeper Mangaliso Mosehle has reitred from professional cricket.

The 33-year-old Duduza-born big hitter, announced the news on his social media accounts on Wednesday morning.

Mosehle was part of the Multiply Titans team that dominated domestic cricket for four seasons between 2012 and 2016. In one of his last games for the Centurion franchise, the wicketkeepr took the Dolphins bowling attack apart as he helped his team chase down 160 to win the Ram Slam T20 final back in 2015.

He played a total of seven T20 games for the Proteas, making his debut in 2017 at the SuperSport Park.

Mosehle thanked his coaches in his retirement statement.

“This has probably been one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. I am officially retiring from professional cricket, it has been an amazing 15 years. When I first held a cricket bat, I never thought I’d achieve what I’d had. It has been nothing but the grace of God to have found myself here,” said the former Titans wicketkeeper.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my journey, administrators, coaches, fans, friends and family.

“A special mention to my family for all that they have done for me and all the support. And lastly, to Ray Jennings, Geoffrey Toyana for being amazing mentors. And the Kookaburra family for making sure that I was always sorted out with kit,” Mosehle concluded.

Titans posted on their Facebook, wishing Mangi well.

“Thank you Mangi Mosehle for the memories, trophies, runs, laughs, stumpings, run-outs, catches and your contribution to South African cricket and the Titans. Go well Mangi and enjoy your retirement.”
