The N1 near William Nicol was still closed for clean-up operations late on Friday after a tanker exploded.
One person was injured in the explosion.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the N1 is closed from Malibongwe Drive.
“Traffic in the area is severely affected as the roadway remains closed for clean-up operations.”
Motorists were advised to AVOID the area and to use alternative routes where possible.
He said multiple emergency service agencies, including Emer-G-Med, responded to the scene of a collision involving a tanker on the N1 near William Nicol.
“On arrival on the scene, the tanker carrying an unconfirmed substance had exploded and was engulfed in flames,” said Van Reenen.
