FlySafair, South Africa’s low-cost airline, has introduced a new direct route between Cape Town and Hoedspruit to improve access to the Kruger National Park and nearby regions.

Starting 2 October 2025, the airline will operate flights three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. One-way fares will start from R1 570, and passengers can book through the FlySafair website or mobile app.

‘New route’

“As part of our ongoing efforts to expand our network and improve domestic connectivity, we’re excited to introduce this new route,” said Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair.

“Hoedspruit is a gateway to the Kruger National Park and surrounding private reserves, and we’re proud to offer travellers a more affordable and convenient way to reach this incredible region.”

Meanwhile, in addition to the new Cape Town-Hoedspruit route, FlySafair is increasing the frequency of its Cape Town-Mbombela flights, which will now operate daily.

This enhancement provides even greater flexibility for travellers visiting the southern part of the Kruger National Park.

Boost for tourism and regional growth

The move is seen as a significant boost for tourism and local economies, offering direct access to two of South Africa’s most iconic safari regions.

  • Hoedspruit, located near central Kruger and the Limpopo border, is renowned for its private game reserves and abundant wildlife.
  • Mbombela, capital of Mpumalanga, combines nature, culture, and commerce and serves as a major hub for southern Kruger visitors.

The new services align with FlySafair’s broader goal to make domestic air travel more affordable and to support economic development through tourism.

“These routes reflect our commitment to connecting South Africans and visitors to the incredible destinations our country has to offer,” Gordon added.
