Here is a list of top ten areas in Cape Town that are classified as high-risk areas right now due to the ongoing taxi strike.

SA911 has released a list of high-risk areas in Cape Town as the associated violence and intimidation continues due to the taxi strike.

SA911 reported that citizens are advised to stay off the roads in Cape Town as the circumstances remain volatile.

WC GOVERNMENT RESPOND TO CONTINUED MINIBUS TAXI STRIKE

After a busy weekend, the Western Cape Government and Cape Town officials express concern.

South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) taxi strike continues to worry officials as a resolution has not yet been made despite engagements.

“On Friday, a proposal was introduced to ease impoundment impact. Regrettably, SANTACO’s further demands lack legal feasibility,” said MEC Ricardo Mackenzie.

Long-term engagement with national government and stakeholders would be necessary and with SANTACO’s reluctance to return, options dwindle said Mackenzie.

Mackenzie stated, ‘Resuming the joint work of our Minibus Taxi Task Team is imperative.’

TAXI VIOLENCE ESCALATES, PEOPLE FORCED TO STAY AT HOME

Circulating social media platforms is a video where assailants can be seen converging on a vehicle on Nyanga Bridge before dawn.

The driver unfortunately bore the brunt of the assailants attacks while the passengers manage to escape.

SANTACO SAYS STRIKE WILL CONTINUE AS PLANNED

On Sunday, (SANTACO) announced a continued strike until Wednesday due to halted talks.

The Western Cape E-hailing Association (WCEA) has since joined the minibus-taxi stay-away and is demanding an unconditional moratorium on all further impoundments.

Currently the City of Cape Town is deploying as many resources at their disposal to prevent attacks, or respond to incidents as soon as possible.
