A heartwrenching video was shared on Twitter on Wednesday, 21 June, and it showed Brenda Fassie’s son, Bongani appearing on an episode of Behind The Story where he spoke to the show’s presenter Jessica Nomalanga Shozi about his numerous failed suicide attempts.

BONGANI FASSIE FAILS THREE SUICIDE ATTEMPTS

In the clip, Bongani Fassie and the show’s presenter can be seen cruising in a car as they have a heart-to-heart. Fassie opened up to Shozi and said that his heart as well as his mind have not been in the right space. He said that whether he was on or off drugs, things seemed to stay the same. He then revealed that he has already tried to take his own life and had failed each time.

“My mind wasn’t in a good place, my heart wasn’t in a good place and I tried to commit suicide…not once, I failed twice [and] I failed thrice [three times],” Fassie said.

Fassie then shared that his experience of trying to take his own life was a rather painful one as he had decided to commit suicide by poisoning himself and drinking detergents. He then opened up about feeling isolated from his friend and said they did not understand what he had been going through.

“I was supposed to be dead long ago. You know, if my brothers or my so-called friends knew or could just give me time to explain myself, instead of trying to side with some other people,” he said.

MORE ABOUT THE LATE MUSICIAN’S SON

According to IOL, Fassie has also appeared on Mzansi Magic’s show called I Blew It and revealed how much of his fortune he had blown. After his mother’s death in 2004, a music executive was said to have taken Fassie under his wing and assisted him in finding people who would help handle the estate. At the time, he was said to have recalled splurging on three Hummer vehicles, paying R70 000 for rent, and spoiling his girlfriend with thousands of rands.

He was said to have dropped a bombshell when he shared that he had even spent about R4 million on narcotics alone. After some time, he reportedly shared that he had realised that he had placed his trust in the wrong people and before no time, his money had run out.
