South African National Parks (SANParks) has implemented strict gate quotas at Kruger National Park (KNP) to manage the school holiday crowds and protect the park’s environment and wildlife.

The quotas will apply from Saturday, 28 June to Monday, 21 July 2025.

Book ahead or risk being turned away

Due to the expected influx of families seeking a nature getaway, SANParks is urging all visitors to book their Kruger National Park day visits online in advance. All visitors must follow gate quotas, as officials will restrict access based on pre-booked time slots. Those who arrive without a reservation risk being turned away.

Entry time slots will be as follows:

  • Slot 1: 06:00 – 08:00
  • Slot 2: 08:00 – 10:00
  • Slot 3: 10:00 onwards

Visitors must arrive at Kruger National Park during their selected time slot to prevent delays or entry issues at the gates.

“Visitors are urged to plan their trips and allow sufficient time to enjoy the bush, relax and arrive safely at their destination. Visitors should consult camp and gate receptions for an updated information on road closures or visit our social media platforms.” SANParks said.
