Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula denies she was arrested
Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has denied reports that she was arrested in connection to allegations of corruption and money laundering.
The Speaker of the National Assembly Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula was said to have handed herself over to the Pretoria police station on Friday amid allegations speculating that she was part of the bribery during her time served as the Minister of the Defence Force.
According to the Daily Maverick the National Assembly speaker is on special leave. She has filed court papers to interdict the National Director of Public Prosecution Shamila Batohi, Police Minister Bheki Cele and investigators from arresting her, according to court papers.

Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has denied reports that she has been arrested on Friday.
According to IOL, Mapisa-Nqakula confirmed that she was at home on Friday with her family after her legal team had filed an urgent court application challenging the search operation that happened at her home.
Mapisa-Nqakula’s legal team demanded the “entire State Brief, without limitation, “ on the case being,” on the case being investigated under CAS 176/2024.
Her demands do not only include the docket, but also demands the witness statements, investigators’ pocket books, diaries and whether they were part of the SAPS or the NPA’s Investigating Directorate (ID).
ARRESTED
Mapisa-Nqakula has been accused of soliciting more than R2 million in cash bribes from Nombasa Ndhlovu, who was at the time working in the military logistics industry and married to a general in the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).
The speaker has expressed that she is willing to cooperate with law enforcement agencies should they need to arrest her for alleged corruption.
In a statement written by Mapisa-Nqakula, she stated that she can confirm that the Investigative Directorate of the National Prosecution Authority searched her home without formal notification of an arrest warrant or communication regarding an imminent arrest for the speaker.
She also stated in the statement that with these serious allegation pointing at her she wishes to take special leave as Speaker of the National Assembly with immediate effect.
Mapisa-Nqakula believed that the decision of taking special leave from her position would protect the integrity of Parliament and ensure its sacred duty and its name continue unblemished.
