CITY POWER URGES CUSTOMERS TO USE ELECTRICITY WISELY AMID BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS

City Power is urging customers to use electricity wisely as a cold front sweeps through Gauteng, bringing several days of low temperatures.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) warned that temperatures could drop below freezing in some areas of the province. The utility also expects the extreme cold to drive up electricity usage, which will put added pressure on the power network.

City Power stated that the use of electricity appliances like heaters and electric blankets to keep warm may overload the infrastructure.

“We appeal to residents and businesses to help us reduce the pressure on the grid by using electricity efficiently and adopting alternative ways to stay warm,” said City Power.
