Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered to host the upcoming BRICS summit, including countries like Brazil, India, China, and South Africa.

The proposition comes on the heels of Putin’s inability to attend this year’s summit in South Africa due to an arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC)..

The offer was conveyed through a video message that Putin delivered to the assembly in Johannesburg.

PUTIN OFFERS TO HOST NEXT BRICS SUMMIT

He warmly welcomed delegates from BRICS nations to gather in Kazan, Russia, in October 2024, but the exact date will be determined diplomatic channels.

Putin’s announcement included a commitment to organizing more than 200 political, economic, and social events as part of Russia’s upcoming BRICS presidency in the following year.

WARRANT OF ARREST ISSUED FOR WAR CRIME ACCUSATIONS

The ongoing summit of significant developing economies will end this week. Putin’s nonattendance is due to an ICC warrant connected to Ukraine war crime accusations.

If Putin had joined in person, he could have faced arrest because of South Africa’s ICC membership.
