Just a few months ago, a shopper went viral after capturing videos of rats having the time of their lives in the Woolworths poultry section. And now another customer, Neville Linton, 63, has come forward after discovering a ladder snake inside a pack of Brocolli he purchased from an Aldi supermarket near his home in Stourbridge, West Midlands.

According to reports, Aldi’s management have offered to compensate the elderly man but he has refused their offer and is “pushing for more”.

CUSTOMER SEEKS COMPENSATION AFTER DISCOVERING SNAKE IN BROCCOLI

Finding wild animals among the food in supermarkets are surprisingly common.

In May this year, Tebo Shale captured a rodent casually nibbling on chicken in the meat section of a Cape Town Woolworths store.

The clip went viral as social media users expressed their disgust.

And now a Birmhingham man has also made headlines after he made an equally gruesome discovery inside his bag of broccoli.

According to Neville who works in industrial cleaning, he had purchased the broccoli from an Aldi store near his home and stored it in the fridge.

Three days later he retrieved it for cooking but once unpackaged, realised there was something coiled up among the green veggies.

He then called his sister Ann-Marie Tenkanemin, 57, who identified it as a snake.

“It was pretty frightening. I’m not good with snakes,” he told DailyMail.

The publication also reports that Aldi has offered Neville compensation over the incident but he does not think it’s enough and is currently “pushing for more”.

WHAT WAS THE LITTLE GUY DOING IN THERE?

Aldi has insisted that this was a once off incident and that the matter is being investigated.

Meanwhile, shortly after Neville headed back to the store with the slippery serpent, it was taken to the local zoo where it was identified as a young ladder snake.

Ladder snakes are not venomous but can release a ghastly odour and bite down pretty hard when defending itself.
