The Economic Freedom Fighters in Cape Town took advantage of a prayer service by Anglican Archbishop Thabo Makgoba, to call for the resignation of City of Cape Town’s MMC for Safety and Security JP Smith.

EFF CHANT IN CHURCH

The interfaith service held at St George’s Cathedral was to pray for a peaceful resolution and an end to the violence and ongoing taxi strike. However, on the sidelines in the church pews, with candles in hand, EFF members led by Provincial Chairperson Unathi Ntame could be heard chanting ‘JP must fall, bring back the taxis’.

While the rest of the attendees are praying for a peaceful resolution, the EFF had been praying for Smith’s demise.

“We are praying for JP Smith to find conscious to that he can resign, he has blood on his hands”, the party stated on their social page X (formerly Twitter).

EFF has called Smith’s alleged utterances over impounding 25 taxi’s for every truck, car, bus of facility that is burned or vandalised as ‘careless’.

“The careless utterances by Smith were nothing but a declaration of war by a white supremacist who is aware that his white constituency will not be affected by the unlawfulness of his war declaration against SANTACO”, says Ntsikelelo Tyandela.
