The young woman seen in selfies on Facebook being kissed by President Jacob Zuma has confirmed to local media that the president is her “second dad”.

The collage of photos – which are apparently genuine, according to the president’s eldest son – were first uploaded to Facebook by someone with a fake account, pretending to be a 19-year-old named Lindokuhle Dlamini.

In the fake posting, the caption said: “He is not just a blesser [sugar daddy], we are in love and I am grateful for all that he has done for me, much love. Xo xo.”

The president’s son, Edward, has since told journalists: “That is my sister. What is wrong with my father kissing his daughter? There is nothing wrong with that photograph.”

He clarified she was not his sister by blood.

News24 has since been in touch with the real woman, a minor whose name cannot be revealed. She said she loves her “second dad” and that the fake post had been invented by someone who “doesn’t even know what he’s talking about”.

The teenager has written on Facebook about the positive role that Zuma has played in her life. She appears to have visited Nkandla several times, and – according to News24 – wrote on her Facebook page earlier this year: “he has taken me as his daughter, I thank you for all the love you have given me throughout the years, I love you baba Msholozi <3 you are the man of your words and I appreciate you 🙂 I have found a second dad in you :)”

The Presidency said yesterday that it would investigate the collage but has not published a statement yet.
