Johannesburg Water will conduct unplanned maintenance, resulting in a 14-hour shutdown on Tuesday, 19 March.

The maintenance will take place from 7:00 – 21:00.

JOHANNESBURG WATER SHUTDOWN ON TUESDAY

The shutdown comes as water woes persist in Johannesburg and demand exceeds supply.

The entity said the prolonged heatwave and lack of rain increased demand significantly. This caused reservoirs of the bulk supply to decline and the system remains slow.

On Monday, Johannesburg Water said it will conduct unplanned maintenance for structural assessment and inspection on the reservoir.

The following areas will be affected by the shutdown:

  • Sunninghill
  • Gallo Manor
  • Edenburg
  • Wendywood
  • Waterfall
  • Woodmead
  • Parts of Morningside

Johannesburg Water said during the course of the maintenance, water tankers will be provided to high-lying areas as and when necessary.
