Malatjie appeared before the Hatfield Magistrates’ Court and applied for mediation, to resolve the matter without proceeding with the prosecution.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson in Gauteng, Lumka Mahanjana said the mediation was refused by the Senior Public Prosecutor.

The matter was postponed to 24 July for trial.

Malatji is facing a charge of theft and it is alleged that the accused was employed at Era by DJ Zinhle and stole stock worth an unverified amount of money. According to some reports, the stock is worth R96 000.

As previously reported by The South African, a police report revealed that the complainant (DJ Zinhle) alleged that she employed Malatjie at her store in Menlyn, then she started to become suspicious that the business wasn’t running well in terms of profit.

The police report also revealed that stolen items were found at the employee’s residence.

“She then went with her friends to the store, and they bought some items. Later, she went back to the store and asked to see the money for the day, and she failed to produce. She gave her R200, then she confessed she took it,” it read.
