President Cyril Ramaphosa has revealed government’s plans to tackle gender based violence (GBV). These include the empowerment of women. Ramaphosa made the announcement during his State of the Nation Address at the Cape Town City Hall on Thursday night. Government will be ploughing more resources to prosecuting perpetrators of GBV. Other interventions include the introduction of new laws to curb GBV laws and direction more resources to ensure better supported is provided to survivors of GBV and the promotion of women’s economic empowerment.
