One learner from Mandlamasha Primary School, in Dannhauser under Amajuba District in KwaZulu-Natal, has died after she was struck by lightning following severe thunderstorms. On Monday, the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds. According to the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), the lightning struck the learners on their way home. Unfortunately, one learner died on the post while the other two were rushed to hospital, where they are recovering.
