Weather warning issued for extremely hot conditions

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning for extremely hot weather conditions in these parts of the country.

Parts of South Africa, including Gauteng have been experiencing extreme hot weather conditions since the start of the week.

With the new season upon us, South Africans were hoping for a cooler month after a series of heatwaves in January and February.

Since the start of the week, temperatures have peaked above 35°C in some places around Gauteng.

RAIN IS EXPECTED IN PARTS OF GAUTENG BUT HOT WEATHER TO LINGER

According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS) hot temperatures are expected to continue until Saturday.

Gauteng Weather shared the details of the scorching weather on social media platform X on Sunday.

For Pretoria, temperatures are expected to peak in their low 30s this week with Wednesday being the hottest day of the month so far.

The weather service has predicted an 80% chance of rain for Thursday.

Johannesburg will also experience rain on Thursday with temperatures reaching a high of 28°C for both Thursday and Friday.

Gauteng residents are advised to take precautions this week with maximum temperatures expected to reach 36 in some parts of the province.

These precautions include, but are not limited to staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities during the hottest time of the day, wearing appropriate clothing, and keeping an eye on vulnerable Individuals.
