Widely used deodorant recalled in South Africa and the UK
Popular deodorant brand Mitchum has issued a recall of specific batches of its 48-hour 100 ml roll-on deodorant.

Popular deodorant brand Mitchum recalled specific batches of its 48-hour 100 ml roll-on deodorant after consumers in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Ireland reported skin irritation.
The manufacturer confirmed in a Facebook statement that customer feedback describing discomfort after using the affected product prompted the recall.
Modification in the manufacturing process
“Some of you have told us that you have experienced skin irritation after using select batches of Mitchum 48-hour 100 ml Roll-On, sold here in South Africa. No other product lines are affected,” the company said.
Mitchum said the issue did not result from a change in the product’s formula but from a modification in the manufacturing process of one of the raw materials used in the deodorant.
This adjustment inadvertently altered how the product interacts with some users’ skin.
“While the formula itself hasn’t changed, a change in the manufacturing process of one of our raw materials altered how the product interacts with the skin of some consumers,” the statement added.
Mitchum has reverted to its original production process and is working with retail partners to remove the affected items from store shelves.
How to Identify Affected Batches
Mitchum advises consumers to check their roll-on products for the batch number printed on the bottom of the packaging.
Only a few batches are affected, and Mitchum has shared guidance to help customers confirm whether their product is safe to use.
Mitchum urges anyone experiencing irritation to stop using the product immediately and contact its customer service for assistance.
