Guinness World Record: Most hugs given in one minute by an individual

Guinness World Records is a British reference book published annually, listing world records of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.

The most hugs in one minute by an individual is 88, achieved by Sam Thompson (UK), on ITV’s This Morning, in Shoreham-by-Sea, UK, on 15 January 2024.

Host Sam Thompson was sent to spread some joy with hugs and maybe even a world record on what is known as ‘Blue Monday’ in the UK, the year’s most depressing day. Participants were from the local community in Shoreham-by-Sea. The town has been found by the Office of National Statistics to be the saddest town in the UK.
