Thirteen runners will contest the 162nd renewal of the R2 million Grade 1 Cape Town Met at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday, 27 January.

Thirteen runners will contest the 162nd renewal of the R2 million Grade 1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday, 27 January.

The line-up for the 2 000m race was unveiled at a glittering function at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday evening.

Cape Town-based trainer Justin Snaith boasts five of the 13-strong field, with Ricky Maingard the only other trainer with multiple entrants.

Richard Fourie will ride Sean Tarry’s Bless My Stars, the only member of the fairer sex in the 2024 line-up.

The last filly to win the Met was Oh Susanna for Grant van Niekerk and Justin Snaith in 2018.

South Africa’s only female jockey, Rachel Venniker, will ride in her first Met aboard Without Question, while English-based rider Danny Muscutt flies in to ride stablemate Double Superlative, both for Justin Snaith.
