There are 31 entrants left in the running for one of the starting berths in the 162nd renewal of the R2 million WSB Grade 1 Cape Town Met to be held at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday, 27 January 2024.

According to the SportingPost website, that’s the picture after the final opportunity for supplementary entries to get a run in the 2 000m Cape flagship closed on Monday, 8 January.

Only 20 horses will make the final field.

The final field is at the discretion of the NHA handicappers, in consultation with Cape Racing.

At the time of publishing, Saturday’s L’Ormarins King’s Plate winner Charles Dickens holds an entry in both the Cape Town Met and the Grade 1 Cape Flying Championship over 1 000m on the same afternoon.

Declarations are due on Wednesday, 17 January and the final field and draws will be announced on the same day.
