If there’s any coach in the PSL that knows how to beat Kaizer Chiefs, his name is Eric Tinkler.

Tinkler’s Cape Town City defeated Amakhosi 1-0 at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night to move up to fifth in the DStv Premiership.

Khanyisa Mayo’s header in the second half gave the Cape side all three points.

TINKLER’S 12TH WIN OVER KAIZER CHIEFS A MILESTONE TO CELEBRATE

The win was also Tinkler’s 12th victory against Chiefs in his coaching career and also their fourth consecutive league victory over the Glamour Boys.

Speaking after the game, Tinkler said he wasn’t aware that he has won more games against Kaizer Chiefs than any other team as coach

“I didn’t even know. As a coach I play every game to win, irrespective of who the opponent is. The fact that I have a good record against Chiefs, it bodes well for my CV I guess,” Tinkler said after the match.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder was full of praise for his star player Mayo.

“His [Mayo’s] work ethic has improved immensely. He’s not reactive which was his problem in the first couple of games this season, he was very reactive to what was happening around him,” Tinkler said.

A record of 12 wins against Kaizer Chiefs is impressive and given Tinkler’s age, he could go on to make it 20 wins in the next five years.

Both City and Chiefs’ next fixtures will be after the upcoming Fifa break.
