Former Orlando Pirates defensive midfielder Ben Motshwari could be rewarded a new contract extension by Usuthu.

Former Orlando Pirates defensive midfielder Ben Motshwari has impressed AmaZulu bosses and is set to be rewarded with a contract extension.

The veteran midfielder left the Buccaneers two months ago to join Usuthu after five years with the Soweto club.

In the past two seasons, the 32-year-old struggled for game-time but since joining AmaZulu, Motshwari has so far played seven matches.

It is believed that the Usuthu technical team is happy with his performance and could extend his stay to 2025.

“The technical team has recommended to management that they need to keep the player beyond his current contract which expires in June 2024. It’s a one year deal which means he will stay at the club until June 2025,” the source revealed to Soccer Laduma’s Siya Crew.

“He came in a bit late and he didn’t have pre-season with the team but since he started playing he has been doing very well and that’s why they have offered him another year already.

“His experience is vital to the team and they want him to impact his knowledge onto the young players in the team. He has shown at training and during games that he is needed in the team and that’s why they are keeping him for another year.”
