Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is delighted following their gutsy display and a special win against Morocco on Tuesday night.

Two goals from Evidence Makgopa and Teboho Mokoena handed Bafana Bafana a special win and display against Morocco in their Afcon Round of 16 clash – coach Hugo Broos is delighted.

Broos says he is delighted for the nation and his Bafana players for knocking out Africa’s number one, Morocco out of the Afcon tournament in Ivory Coast.

In his reaction, the Belgian and former Afcon winner with Cameroon, Broos was full of praise for his Bafana troops for the display and win against Morocco.

BAFANA COACH HUGO BROOS ON SPECIAL WIN AND DISPLAY VS. MOROCCO

The 71-year-old Bafana coach, Broos made it clear that he was proud as the 1996 African champions kicked Africa’s highest-ranked team out of the Afcon tournament in what he called a special win.

“I don’t think that I have to tell you that I’m very happy today,” Bafana coach Broos said after beating Morocco in a special win.

“We beat Morocco and it’s not only because we are in the quarter-finals, but beating a team like Morocco is something special.

“This is a very good team with very good players but we did the right analysis and the way we played, the tactic was the right one.”

In addition, the astute and proud coach of Bafana added that they were slow in the first half but their display improved in the second half.

From the hard-fought win over the Atlas Lions of Morocco, Bafana are now set to face Cape Verde in the Afcon quarter-final on Saturday night.

“First half was a little bit of a [slow] game, I thought that both teams were a little bit afraid of each other, but the second half was more open with a few chances for Morocco but we scored and that is always important to score the first,” added Broos.

“After that, we were a bit lucky because Morocco started to play powerplay with their good players, high balls and very hard duels.

“So they had a few chances then but after the second goal it was over and we are in the quarter-final.

“And we are very, very, very happy.”
