Hugo Broos unhappy with Bafana vs DRC clash

Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos is not eager for his team to face of with DR Congo in the AFCON third-place playoffs.

Ahead of the third-place play-off Afcon match against DR Congo on Saturday night, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is unhappy to face the Congolese.

The unhappy Bafana coach, Broos says if it were his choice, he wouldn’t play the Afcon match against Congo.

Following Bafana’s semi-final loss to Nigeria on Wednesday, Broos says finishing third or fourth against Congo doesn’t matter because many people will remember the champions.

Bafana are set to face Congo in a battle for a bronze medal at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium on Saturday night – but Broos has different views and he is unhappy.

At the same time, the Bafana coach Broos added that the match will be decided by any side that has managed to recover from a loss in the semi-finals.

BAFANA’S HUGO BROOS UNIMPRESSED WITH AFCON MATCH VS. CONGO

The 1996 African champions, Bafana succumbed to a penalty defeat at the hands of the Super Eagles while the Leopards of Congo were downed by Afcon hosts, Ivory Coast – Broos shares his views.

“It depends a bit on which team will be better recovered,” said Bafana coach Broos as he is unhappy to face Congo.

“Also for the DRC it has been a disappointing week. If you ask my advice, this game must not be played.

“The most important thing in a tournament like this is to finish number one. Number two or number four, it is exactly the same, it is only for statistics.”

BROOS PROVIDES UPDATE AHEAD OF CONGO CLASH

The 71-year-old Bafana coach, Broos continued to provide an update on his players as they will miss defender Grant Kekana who is suspended against Congo while winger Thapelo Maseko is injured.

On the other hand, Broos stated that he will make several changes in his squad for the game, which Bafana beat 1-0 in a friendly as recently as last September at Orlando Stadium.

“I hope my players will be mentally ready to go at kick-off, as they have been in the previous six games,” added Bafana coach Broos.

“The DRC were also in the semifinals and that means they are a good team.”
