The chase for a Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates transfer target has now become a three-way race.

Pirates were thought to be close to be wrapping up a new signing ahead of the new season.

It has been no secret that Pirates have been interested in Shaune Mogaila, a long-term target now available for free. The speedy winger recently parted ways with former club Royal AM. It is reported the split came after the two parties could not agree on a improved terms for a new deal. Waiting on the wings, is believed to Pirates, who are club wanted the player even before he joined the Durbanites.

This publication reported just that Pirates and Mogaila were close to an agreement for next season. But in football, it doesn’t take long for things to change with the latest update possibly making the Buccaneers nervous. Firstly a later update from this publication revealed that Norwegian giants Valengra are serious about signing the player. But that is not all. It has since been revealed that arch rivals Chiefs are also interested in the player. If that was not enough, it was reported last week, that SuperSport United have since joined the fray.

Now, according to Soccer-Laduma, SuperSport are stepping up their pursuit to beat Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates to Mogaila by opening contract talks!

“The talks have apparently started and things are looking good. They (SuperSport) could have wanted him (Mogaila) to join training now, not looking at how the season is going. They are negotiating that he joins the team in July when they come back for the new season in pre-season training,” said the source to the publication.

Will either Chiefs or Pirates also open talks? Or are they already in talks to sign Mogaila ahead of SuperSport? Only time will tell.
