Kaizer Chiefs linked to Richards Bay stopper

Kaizer Chiefs are out to recruit new goalkeepers with three stoppers rumoured to be leaving the club soon.

Richards Bay FC’s first-choice goalkeeper is once again being linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs in January.

Kaizer Chiefs are expected to intensify their search for a PSL-ready goalkeeper and Salim Magoola keeps coming up in their estimation.

KAIZER CHIEFS LINKED TO SALIM MAGOOLA 

Brandon Petersen, Itumeleng Khune and Bruce Bvuma will enter the final six months of their current deals with Kaizer Chiefs and it is telling that they have not made re-signing them a priority.

Magoola hasn’t been able to prevent Richards Bay from flirting with relegation but Kaizer Chiefs interest persists.

“Salim Magoola is still an option for Chiefs,” a source told Soccer Laduma

“His name has come up again as an option although there have been no official talks. 

“He is one of the players who will be closely monitored for the rest of the season as Chiefs are searching for a goalkeeper to add to the team for next season.”

ANOTHER STOPPER WANTED AT NATURENA

Kaizer Chiefs made inquiries about Chippa United stopper Stanley Nwabili but a FIFA transfer ban for the Eastern Cape club might put a dampener on those plans.

“Stanley (Nwabili) is not the only goalkeeper they are looking at,” an insider told Soccer Laduma. 

“There are other goalkeepers they are monitoring as well but after his performances this season, the scouts have recommended that they should look at him and he is on their radar right now.

“The only big issue would be Chippa United wanting to find his replacement before they can let him go.

“This season he has been the main difference in many games which the team has either won or drawn because of his good performances in most of those games.

“But yeah, the interest is there from Chiefs and you know every player would want to play for a big team like Chiefs. And after all, he wants recognition from the Nigerian national team selectors and playing for Chiefs would give him that platform but at the end of the day it will depend on the two teams,” the source concluded.
