Stellenbosch FC are reportedly set to beat Kaizer Chiefs to the signature of a star player.

Amakhosi were rumoured to be interested in is Richard bay’s left sided star Sanele Barns.

Barns would fit right into the Kaizer Chiefs way!

STELLIES COULD SNAP UP KAIZER CHIEFS TARGET

However, it seems that Barns has had his ear turned to go somewhere else.

Stellies have delt with Chiefs raids. Now they have got one over on the Glamour Boys.

This might even feel like revenge for the Cape side if they can get the player on their books.

However, just because Stellies sign him does not mean that Kaizer Chiefs will vanish from the scene.

As previously stated, Chiefs love to snap up players from Stellenbosch FC and the club have always seemed willing to do business.

Kaizer Chiefs cannot undo a pre-contract and must now wait.

“As it stands I can tell you that (Stellies) have agreed a deal which will be effective from July,” an insider told Soccer Laduma.

“They have agreed on a long term deal though all the details will be finalised when he starts training with the team in the off season.

“On a personal level it’s very good for the player. It’s an upgrade for the player. There was no way he could have turned down the deal and the move,” said the source.

WHO DARES, WINS

Kaizer Chiefs have not pushed hard to sign him though. Now it seems Barns will go elsewhere.

“Yes, Chiefs were interested in him.

“They wanted him at the beginning of the season and also in January but they were not in a hurry and Stellenbosch were serious and apparently offered him a pre-contract.

“It is believed they had agreed on terms and he agreed and it seems things are going well as he could join at the end of the current season,” said a second source.

In his 19 appearances for the club, Barns has scored three goals for Richards Bay this season and aid on five assists.
